Prof. José António Salcedo is the new Advisory Board member of Critical Manufacturing

Oporto, November 20th, 2009Critical Manufacturing is honored to announce Prof. José António Salcedo, as new member of the company’s Advisory Board.

Dr. Salcedo, Phd, CEO of Multiwave Photonics, joins the previously appointed member, Dr. Peter Kücher, Phd, Director of the Fraunhofer Center Nanoelectronic Technologies.

Dr. Salcedo established the company after 15 years of focused R&D efforts in optoelectronics, lasers and fiber optics at the University of Porto (where he was Professor of Electrical Engineering and previously Associate Professor of Physics) and INESC Porto (that he co-founded in 1984 and where he also co-founded an Optoelectronics Center in 1990).

Prior, Dr. Salcedo carried out professional activities in the US for about 10 years, where he obtained MSc/PhD degrees at Stanford University, California. Was also manager of the PRAXIS XXI program, co-founder of ENT-EFACEC, and is a member of Academia Europaea.

In 2009, Dr. Salcedo received the Engineering Achievement award from IEEE Photonics Society "in recognition of outstanding technical and leadership contributions to pulsed fiber lasers"

Critical Manufacturing is working to create an advisory board constituted by persons with life-time based know-how in the industry and key entrepreneurial experience in the target business markets, to promote Critical Manufacturing’s interests through strategic advisory of the executive management board.
